Melbourne, Australia

Hi all, I am now back from my Victorian road trip feeling slightly heavier and a shade darker!

As we flew down our first stop was Melbourne. For all international viewers Melbourne has a name for good shopping, good food and strange weather, as expected all was experienced during our one and a half day stay!

We spent two nights at The Hotel Windsor after scoring a great deal on The Hotel Windsor is Australia oldest grand hotel and grand it is! From the minute we entered the hotel we were taken back to another era filled with beautiful chandilers, sofas, a grand piano, beautiful carpet and friendly, polite staff, no wonder so many important and famous people have passed through here.

The weather was interesting, one minute it was wet and cold, the next the sun was shining. Sight seeing was minimal we did a little shopping and went for a walk in the search for Lord of the fries. During our walk we stopped at St Patrick's cathedral and several lane ways covered in graffiti.

Despite our lack of sight seeing we managed to see and eat a lot of food. We enjoyed a delicious Chinese meal at Crystal Jade located in China town, a decadent high tea at The Hotel Windsor which included the largest desert buffet I have ever seen, the best skim latte from The Mess Hall, hot chips lathered in mayo from Lord of the fries, a fantastic meal at Mama Baba and daily breakfast buffet.

It was a shame we only had two nights to spend in Melbourne, next time a longer trip will be on the cards.
