The Emporium, Parramatta

Virgin mojito

Thyme Set Menu
Cured meats, bread, olives, pickles, cauliflower
Lamb belly on hummus
Tuna tartare
Tempura zucchini flowers
Ocean trout with a fennel, radish, apple and raspberry salad

Having salivated over posts on Instagram since it opened mid last year, I was very excited when my colleagues agreed to have our team Christmas lunch at The Emporium on Philip Street in Parramatta.

Rustic looking it boasts three seperate dining areas. We sat in an alfresco space. With exposed brick, marble tables, vases full of lilies and plenty of natural light it was the perfect place to unwind.

Being a large group we had the Thyme set menu which included an array of entrees to share, not all pictured, a choice of main and sides to share.

Beautifully presented the food looked and tasted amazing, the only downside was being pregnant there were a couple dishes I couldn't try. My favourites were the lamb belly on hommus and the tempura zucchini flowers.

For main I choose the Petuna ocean trout with a fennel, radish, apple and raspberry salad.  This dish didn't disappoint, the salad so fresh and crisp worked well with the trout, the raspberries were a great addition.

Full by this stage, dessert was missed, however will be made up when I return in the near future!

Sydney Festival 2016, Parramatta

The Sydney Festival is back. Running from January 7 to 26 there are many events at various locations in the city and Parramatta.

On Friday evening we headed to the Fantastical fairground 'Arquitectura De Feria' set up in Prince Alfred Square, Parramatta.

This is not your modern fair, led by Jorda Ferre and Oscar de Paz, this is an old school fair with machines made from recycled objects which are operated by hand and pedals.

Arriving early in the evening the fairground was quiet which was great for Gabby who doesn't quite understanding the concept of waiting in a line.

For those interested in a bite to eat as you enter the festival there is an area with about three or four foodstalls, a stage with live entertainment and tables and chairs.

If you are looking for a fun, free family event than check it out.

Opening times and dates can be found at: http://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/2016/parramatta

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016!

2015 what a year, returning to work, studying, falling pregnant again, blogging, eating, being a mum, the 100 Sydney dishes challenge and everyday life kept me very busy!

With little time to post as often as I had set out earlier in the year I found Instagram a fantastic tool to display my food and day to day adventures, enough so I set up a second account @mummyinheels to post my mummy related pics!

Unfortunately the 100 Sydney Dishes to Die for challenge which I set myself didn't go as well as I planned. With morning sickness, the longest every cold and stomach bugs, there was a stage where even the foodporn on Instagram was making me sick! Out of 100 dishes I only managed to try twelve, but hey it was fun!

With a second on its way my goal for Fizzy-Pink-Lemonade this year is to post when I can, the thing I love to cook, eat and do!
