4Fourteen, Surry Hills

Ham hock and cheese croquette

Suckling pig sausage roll

Whole duck, duck fat potatoes, carrots.

White chocolate sandwich with dulce de leche

This year for Mr FPL's birthday I surprised him with dinner at Colin Fassnidge's Surry Hills restaurant 4Fourteen. A lover of meaty things it was right up his alley.

To start we ordered the ham hock and cheese croquettes and suckling pig sausage rolls. The croquettes highly recommended by our waitress were to die for, crispy on the outside and cheesy and full of flavour on the inside it was tempting not to order more!

As mentioned earlier Mr FPL is a lover of meats and one of those meats is duck, so when the waitress mentioned one of the specials of the night was a whole duck, duck it was! Accompanied by duck fat potatoes and roasted carrots there was more than enough food for two.

Not wanting to miss out on dessert we greedily ordered a dessert each, the white chocolate sandwich with dulce de leche and Snickers. Equally rich and decadant we struggled to get through our desserts which was a shame given how good they were, in hindsight we probably should have just shared one.

As we rolled out of the restaurant and headed home to the kids, we both agreed it was an enjoyable night of good service, food and drinks.
